Matthew 10:1-15
In Matthew 10:1–15, we see the compassionate heart of Christ move from mercy to mission. Flowing directly from Jesus’ deep compassion for the crowds in Matthew 9, this passage shows the King who possesses all authority calling His disciples near and sending them out under His authority. Jesus commissions ordinary men, not in their own strength, but with delegated authority, clear purpose, and complete dependence on God’s provision.
This sermon explores how the mission of the church is not driven by human ambition, strategy, or self-reliance, but grounded in divine delegation and sovereign grace. The disciples are sent to proclaim that the kingdom of heaven has come near—not as moral reform or self-improvement, but as the announcement of God’s redeeming reign in Christ.
Through this text, we are reminded that Christ still sends His church today—calling us to faithful obedience, humble dependence, and confident trust in the One who secures the mission for the glory of God.
