A New Day

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” -Lamentations 3:22-24

In reflection of our celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus, I am reminded of all the things that were made new in His work. In Christ, we are a new creation in Him (2 Corinthians 5:17). In Christ, He is renewing our spirits and minds (Ephesians 4:22). In Christ, we are transformed into His image (2 Corinthians 3:18). In Christ, He is making all things new (Revelation 21:5). While I could continue to proclaim the ways He is making us, along with all of creation, a new work, one of the more practical ways is in the gift of a new day.

Throughout the scriptures, we find the assurance of revitalizing mercy in the new day. Over and over the prophets and apostles remind us of this inheritance. In Lamentations, the Prophet Jeremiah proclaims one of the steadfast ways the Lord loves us is in the new morning mercies. In the new day, He reminds us of His faithfulness as our hearts beat and there is breath in our lungs. In the new day, He refreshes us in His grace. In the new day, He is our portion and hope. In the new day, these mercies hold us fast from being consumed by the circumstances and weight of the fallen world. In the new day, He refreshes our soul to sing praises to our Lord.

As the sun rises, a new day starts with an unblemished slate full of promise to make His name known. By taking time to fellowship with the Lord in prayer and meditate on His Word each morning, He will guide our steps and equip us for each day.

I love you and consider it an honor to serve as your pastor.

Blessings,
