Steadfast Anchor

We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. -Hebrews 6:19-20

Hebrews 6:19–20 gives us one of the most beautiful pictures of our security in Christ. An anchor holds a ship steady in the midst of storms. Our lives, too, are often battered by trials, temptations, and the winds of uncertainty. Yet the Word reminds us that our hope is not fragile or shifting; it is sure and steadfast. Why? Because it is anchored not in our faithfulness, but in Christ’s. He has entered the holy place on our behalf. He is the forerunner, securing our place in the presence of God.

R.C. Sproul once wrote that the confidence of a follower of Christ rests not on “the strength of our grip on Christ, but on His grip on us.” That is our hope: Jesus has gone ahead, and because He is there, we will surely follow. Our anchor of hope is lodged in heaven itself, beyond the reach of sin, suffering, or schemes of the enemy.

So, dear brothers and sisters, take courage. Whatever burden you carry, whatever fears trouble you, remember that your anchor is not dragging along the bottom of this season; it is fixed in eternity with Christ. He is both our High Priest and our King, forever interceding for us.

Let us, then, walk together in this hope. Encourage one another, pray for one another, and remind each other that Christ has secured for us “a kingdom that cannot be shaken” (Heb. 12:28). The storms may rage, but our souls are safe; anchored to the throne of grace, where Jesus reigns.

Love you guys and consider it an honor to serve as one of your pastors.

Blessings,
