Union with Christ

“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life” -Romans 6:4

The apostle Paul anchors our hope in this breathtaking truth: through faith, we are united to Christ in His death and resurrection. This is not merely symbolic; it is a spiritual reality. As R.C. Sproul reminds us, “union with Christ is the fountain from which every blessing of salvation flows. In Him, we died to sin’s dominion; in Him, we were raised to share in new life.”

This truth signifies your identity is not found in your failures, past, or even good works. It is found in Christ crucified and risen. Just as Christ left the grave behind, so too have you left behind the old self. Though the presence of sin remains, its power is broken. You are no longer enslaved. You are free in Christ!

This union in Christ extends far beyond theological positions or emotional sentiments; it is truly transformational. “Walking in newness of life” means that resurrection power is at work in you even now. When you forgive instead of retaliating, pursue holiness instead of cultural compromise, set your hope on Christ instead of worldly gain, you are bearing witness to the risen Lord who lives in you.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, this truth should bring you great hope. The empty tomb is not just Christ’s story; it is yours. Because you are in Him, death has no final word, and life eternal has already taken root in your soul. Let us walk together in that newness of life, rejoicing that we belong wholly to Christ, our risen King.

Blessings,

Kris
